More than 34 million Americans are currently living with diabetes, and another 88 million are at risk for it. If you have diabetes, pre-diabetes, taking care of someone with diabetes, or are predisposed, this course is for you. Eating Well for Diabetes is an online interactive 3-week course covering everything you need to know about what diabetes is, how to manage it through balanced nutrition, and other ways to supplement your life with healthy habits. Tuesday, January 26th Session 1 discusses the different types of diabetes and risk factors, why management is important and numbers to keep an eye on, and everything you need to know about carbohydrates and nutrition tips to balance blood sugar. Tuesday, February 2nd Session 2 focuses on how to fit diabetes management into your life. Cooking, meal prep, eating out, and how to easily assemble a balanced plate. Learn how to incorporate the food you love without a restrictive diet. Tuesday, February 9th Session 3 will be a fun cook-along class where you can cook along with Julie or just watch, but learn culinary skills are new recipe ideas for managing diabetes. About the instructor: Julie Harrington, RD is a registered dietitian and chef. Her passion is to educate others about nutrition through food and giving them the tools they need to build confidence in the kitchen.
